Zinc PVA faeces sample (for faecal parasite testing)
Specimen collection
- Obtain a PVA container from your doctor or nearest Aotea Pathology rooms.
- The zinc is in the pot in a clear liquid.
- Place a clean ice‐cream container or similar in the toilet or make a raft of toilet paper in the pan.
- Ensure that no urine or water contaminates the faeces.
- Using the wooden stick provided collect two pea sized portions of faeces into the PVA container and mix them in well.
- Do not pass the specimen directly into the PVA container.
- Securely fasten the lid and label the container with your name, date of birth and date and time of collection.
- Place the specimen in the plastic bag provided with the request form from your doctor.
- Take the specimen to your doctor or nearest Aotea Pathology rooms.
- Specimens may be kept at room temperature overnight. Do not refrigerate.
